Dogmestrik with Hedestrik

Dogmestrik is a method in which in very few steps you go from having unprocessed raw wool to having a finished product between your hands. We knit with West Jutland Spælsau, which has very long fibers that make it possible to knit without any processing, and then it has the most beautiful colors.

Dogmestrik connects to ancient needlework, and a relation to the material naturally arises. During the workshop we will talk about wool types, properties of wool and areas of use. We talk about how sheep, landscape and textile are related. We focus on cultural heritage and innovation.

If you can knit correctly, you can come and join us.

In Hedestrik we would like to focus on all the wool that lies unused as a residual product for sheep farmers. We work to make available wool crafts such as dogmestrik and wet felt with Danish raw wool.

Participants receive 100 g of wool (value 65 kr) for a pair of wrist warmers or another smaller project. There is an option to buy wool if you want to knit something bigger.

Coffee and cake will be served during the workshop.

**About the Educator: **

Hedestrik is a wool community that teaches wool, dogmestrik, plant colour and felt. Hedestrik wants to spread the use of Danish wool through the availability of wool crafts. Through their workshops, they focus on all the Danish wool, which is too often left unused as a waste product by sheep farmers - in fact, more than half of it is burned. In Hedestrik's teaching, they focus on wool from an environmental and climate perspective, and want to challenge commercial yarn production. The workflow with wool occurs most often in large factories and far from the consumer. Heat knitting will make product manufacturing transparent and give people the feeling that they can do it themselves.
