Learn to color with indigo

Astrid gives an introduction to dyeing with indigo, a subject on which she holds many workshops - and which is always popular.

Indigo works in a different way than all other natural dyes. It has to go through a reaction called a reduction in order for it to be used to dye textiles, and there are always a lot of questions about that. In a 3-hour workshop, you can dye 2-300 g of yarn. It can be, for example, remnants of bright yarn that you want to freshen up

**Participants must bring: **

200 - 300 g yarn of natural fibers for dyeing. It should be won up in bold beforehand. Animal fibres such as wool, alpaca and mohair absorb the colour best, but cotton and flax can also be dyed. The yarn should be white or light, and it may well be yarn residues that need to be freshened up. You can also buy yarn from Astrid on the day. In addition, bring a bag to take the wet yarn home in and put on practical clothes that can tolerate a small stain.

**About the educator: **
