Knitting can be a meditative act — a rhythm between the hands that repeats itself, finds its own tranquility and creates a quiet space for presence. In this workshop we explore the connection between the rhythm of knitting and the rhythm of breathing.
We alternate between sequences of knitting and simple breathing exercises, where we let the masks and breathing find each other's pace. You will be guided to use the physical rhythm of your knitwear to support your breathing — and to let the breath give new life to your concentration, your creativity and your calmness.
The goal is not to perform, but to discover how the calm repetition in the movement of the hand can create balance in the body and mind -- a breath hole for the creator who wants to find calm in the middle of the rhythm.
This course is for those who want to:
• Allow the rhythm of knitting to support a calm breath
• Use knitwear as a way to calm and presence
• Learn simple breathing techniques for everyday life
• Experience how the rhythm of the hand can regulate the nervous system
• Creating a break room with no performance requirements
• Uniting creativity and self-care in one practice
The course is aimed at anyone who knits and wants to use knitting as a tool for calm, contemplation and self-care — whether you have experience with breathing training or not. All it takes is the desire to meet your knitwear in a new way and be present in what your hands already can.
Coffee and cake are served along the way.
